Remember to make adjustments to ensure your child’s bike fits them. Check the saddle height and remember to have a lower seat position for balance-bike style riding; their feet should be flat on the floor when they are sitting comfortably on the saddle. You’ll need to gradually raise the saddle as your child makes progress along their cycling journey, and once they can ride more confidently, their saddle should be raised so that they have the balls of their feet on the ground when sitting comfortably on the saddle.

Depending on the model of bike, you may be able to adjust the position of the handlebar to ensure the reach is suitable for your child. Your child should have slightly bent arms when their hands are comfortably on the handlebar. You can also slide their saddle forward or backward to bring your child closer or further from the handlebars.

Your child should be able to reach the brake levers, and some brakes allow for adjustment of the reach. Tightening the brake reach adjustment screw will bring the levers closer to the handlebars.

If you are using a conventional bike for balance bike activities, remember that you can remove the pedals so they don't clash with your child’s feet.
