We love to cook here and at Unii and have lots of nutritious ideas that support the balanced toddler diet we extol on this journey. Here are some for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Start your toddler’s day off well.

Organic scramble eggs on whole-grain toast: Eggs are a great source of protein, and toast provides complex carbohydrates that release energy slowly throughout the morning. This easy, quick meal is also fortified with iron and calcium to keep your toddler full and sustained.

Yoghurt parfait. To paraphrase Shrek's friend Donkey, nobody says no to a parfait! Your toddler will love the layers of yoghurt, berries, and granola that make up this nutritious breakfast. Choose a plain Greek yoghurt to keep it healthy.

Banana-oat pancakes are a great way to incorporate whole grains and fruit into your toddler's breakfast. Mash a ripe banana and mix it with oats and eggs for a healthy and tasty pancake. You can always bake any leftovers in a muffin tray and have oat muffins as snacks.

Toddler lunch menu

Veggie quesadilla is a great way to sneak in some veggies your toddler doesn’t like much. Add some cheese and black beans for protein and homemade guacamole to use as a dip, filled with healthy fats.

Hummus and veggie wrap: Spread hummus on a wrap and add sliced veggies like cucumber, carrots, and bell pepper.

Turkey and cheese roll-ups: Roll up some sliced turkey and cheese in a tortilla for a protein-packed lunch. Add some satsumas pepper sticks for after to boost vitamin C and help with iron absorption.

Dinner with your little one

Baked sweet potato and black beans Add salsa and cheese for a healthy and filling dinner.

Stir-fry some chicken and veggies like broccoli, bell peppers, and snap peas with noodles or rice for a quick and nutritious meal.

Cook some pasta and top it with a homemade or low-sugar tomato sauce for a kid-friendly dinner. Top tip: blend in extra veggies into the sauce to make it extra nutritious, and top with cheese to make sure they are getting some protein.

Perfect snacks for the under-threes

Slice up some fruit, like strawberries or bananas, and serve it with a side of yoghurt for a nutritious snack.

Serve vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, and peppers with hummus.

Make a trail mix from raw nuts, pumpkin seeds, and dried fruit.

Keep all of the portion sizes toddler-friendly. Talk to your child about meal plans. Involve them in the preparation to encourage positive feelings about food.
