What do newborns look like and do?

Babies usually start smiling between the ages of 4 to 12 weeks, although some may smile earlier. These early smiles are usually just a response to gas and are not intentional, but as your baby begins to develop and recognize familiar faces, their smiles will become more frequent and genuine. Around 2 to 3 months of age, babies may begin to smile in response to people and will continue to smile more often as they grow and develop social skills. It's a precious moment for new parents and a sign of the strong bond that will form between parent and child.
