Believe it or not, this is the last week before you enter the final third trimester. At 27 weeks, your baby is around 36.6cm (the size of a big leek).

Around this time, your baby is continuing to gain weight as they grow!

Inside your baby’s lungs, a substance called surfactant is beginning to coat the lung walls. Surfactant is important, as it stops the tiny airways and air sacs from sticking together. Once your baby is born, their lungs will inflate with air.

Your baby’s heart rate will have slowed to around 140 beats per minute, which is still incredibly fast compared to your own!
